The Eastern Railway has canceled 25 trains between May 24 and May 29, in view of the threat of cyclonic storm Yaas hovering over West Bengal and Odisha. Railways issued a press release informing about this decision and also shared the list of canceled trains. The Railways said that this step has been taken due to the Yaas cyclone.

Director General of India Meteorological Department (IMD) Dr Mrityunjay Mohapatra said that the low pressure area over the East-Central Bay of Bengal on Saturday morning has turned into a depression on Sunday and by Monday morning it has turned into a cyclone form called Yaas. He said, 'It is very likely to turn into a very severe cyclonic storm.

Dr. Mahapatra told, "It will cross the coasts of West Bengal and North Odisha on the evening of 26 May." The IMD predicted the wind speed of the cyclone to be around 155–165 kmph, with a top speed of 185 kmph. Speaking to ANI, Dr. Mahapatra said, "This is a very dangerous wind speed on a very large scale. It is almost similar to the wind speed of cyclonic weights. Even Cyclone Amfan, which made landfall last year Was, wind speed was also the same. "

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review the preparedness of states and central ministries / agencies, in which preparations for the predicted cyclone 'Yaas' were reviewed.
