Assam Police has detained three foreign nationals for violating visa rules. According to the police, all three citizens are originally from Sweden.
According to the information received from the police, the three foreign nationals who were detained were apprehended when they were about to attend prayer and peace meeting on tourist visa in Ghinai of Namrup police station area of Dibrugarh district of Assam. The police has taken suo motu cognizance.
The three-day prayer meeting was organized by the United Church Forum, a body of some 12 different churches with due permission from the district administration.
Those detained under Section 14B and 14C of the Foreigners Act 1946 have been interrogated.
According to police sources, they have been found guilty but the police will not arrest them but they will be sent back to their country as soon as possible. Its preparations have also been started.
