6.3 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Nepal, Strong Tremors Felt In Delhi-NCR

After the most recent series of earthquakes in the early hours of Wednesday, a house collapsed in the Doti area of Nepal, killing at least three people, according to news agency ANI.

Around two in the morning, people in Delhi and the NCR region were jolted out of their sleep by strong tremors.

Three tremors—two earthquakes and an aftershock—have occurred in Nepal in the previous 24 hours, according to the National Seismological Center of Nepal.

“The third strong jolt measuring 6.6 magnitude which struck at around 2.12am on Wednesday resulted in the loss of three lives after a house collapsed. The deaths are reported from Gairagaun,” Ram Prasad Upadhyay, chairman of Purbichauki village council-03 of Doti district told ANI.

Around 8.52 p.m., a 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal. At roughly 1.57 am, a second 6.3-magnitude earthquake rocked Nepal; it was felt powerfully in Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, Gurugram, and even Lucknow. The second earthquake’s epicentre was 90 kilometres east-southeast of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand.
