Air India Pilot, Entire Crew Grounded For Allowing Friend Into Cockpit

According to a senior source, the aviation watchdog DGCA has instructed the airline to deroster the whole crew until investigations are finished, nearly two months after an Air India pilot invited a female friend into the cockpit during a Dubai-Delhi flight.

Upon learning that the pilot had admitted a female friend to the cockpit, a member of the flight’s cabin crew complained to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The occurrence took place on February 27.

The entire flight crew has been derostered while investigations are ongoing, according to a Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official who spoke on the record on the condition of anonymity.

The official stated on Wednesday that there is a claim under investigation, which would be handled in accordance with the natural justice principle, and that the pilot in question will also have a chance to make his case.

The source added that the pilot would continue to be grounded until the regulator made the final decision on the case.

Air India was slow to respond to the most recent event, but on April 21 the airline stated that it had taken the reported incident seriously and that investigations were in progress.

Unauthorised individuals are not permitted in the cockpit, and any such access might be against the rules.
