National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval will be meeting his counterparts from Central Asian Countries in Delhi , which coincides with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of India’s diplomatic relations with the countries in the region.
First time the NSA’s of Central Asian Countries will be in India for a security meeting
This meeting is significant from a geopolitical perspective because it is taking place amid the evolving humanitarian and security situation in Afghanistan. This will be the first time that NSA’s of Central Asian countries will be in the national capital for a security meeting.
Framework for India-Central Asia Partnership was laid in a Summit Meeting virtually hosted by Prime Minister Modi earlier this year
This meeting has the potential to lay a roadmap for India’s close diplomatic ties with the Central Asian states and is being organized in the backdrop of India-Central Asia Summit which Prime Minster Narendra Modi hosted virtually on January 27, earlier this year and was attended by the Presidents of Kazakhstan , Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Through the summit, the groundwork and broad contours of developing robust diplomatic relationship with Central Asian countries were explored. During the Summit meeting , Prime Minister Modi and the Central Asian leaders deliberated on taking the India-Central Asia relationship to new heights. It was also agreed to institutionalize the Summit mechanism by deciding to hold it every two years.
It was agreed during the meeting that there will be regular meetings of Foreign Ministers, Trade Ministers , Culture Ministers and the Secretaries of the Security Council to prepare the foundation for the Summit meetings. India-Central Asia Secretariat would be set up in New Delhi , which will support the mechanism.
During the Summit meeting leaders discussed in detail on the far reaching proposals to further cooperation in trade and connectivity , cultural and people to people ties, development cooperation , defense and security.

The Summit Meeting laid out a general outline for the Round Table on Energy and Connectivity, Joint Working Groups on Afghanistan and the use of Chabahar Port, Showcasing of Buddhist Exhibitions in Central Asian Countries, and Joint Counter Terrorism. It also envisioned a way forward for India's diplomatic push in the Central Asian countries.
The summit meeting placed a major emphasis on fostering cultural relations and people-to-people connections, and it was decided that a 100-member youth delegation from Central Asia will visit India annually and there will be special courses designed for Central Asian diplomats.
The leaders agreed upon a detailed Joint Declaration that outlines their shared goals for a long lasting India-Central Asia partnership.
