Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir is starting from today. The movement from Jammu to the Valley has intensified regarding his visit. During this tour, all eyes are on the public meeting to be held in Rajouri on Tuesday. If sources are to be believed, Amit Shah can give a big gift to a large section of the Paharicommunity of Jammu and Kashmir in this meeting.
He can also make a big announcement on the long-standing demand of giving ST status to the Pahari community. If this happens, then this decision is being considered as a master stroke for the BJP, which can give a big advantage to the BJP in the coming assembly elections.
After the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Home Minister Amit Shah is reaching Jammu today at 7 pm on his second visit to Jammu and Kashmir. As soon as he reaches Jammu, Shah will meet four different delegations. The Gurjars, Bakarwals will do one to one with the people of the Pahari community, while a party of Rajput community will arrive to thank Raja Hari Singh on his birthday as a holiday. All these meetings will be held in Raj Bhavan.
Why is the meeting of Rajouri important?
However, all eyes are on the meeting to be held in Rajouri tomorrow. It is believed that Home Minister Amit Shah can announce the ST status to the Pahari community from the meeting of Rajouri, which is being considered a game changer for the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Pahari community has influence in about 5 districts of Jammu and Kashmir, while there are about 10 such assembly seats which are directly affected.
If sources are to be believed, BJP will get the benefit of this in the assembly elections, but many castes with ST and status, especially Gujjars, Bakarwals can stand against it. This is the reason why Home Minister Amit Shah wants to talk to the prominent people of these communities separately.
