Amritsar: BSF jawan opened fire in the mess, five soldiers including the accused died

There is news of firing in a mess of the Border Security Force (BSF) posted in Amritsar, Punjab. Five soldiers have died in this accident, while one jawan is seriously injured. The condition of the injured jawan remains worrisome. This unfortunate incident happened on Sunday (March 06) at the headquarters of the 144th Battalion at Khasa, Amritsar, when Constable Sattappa S accidentally opened fire. In this incident, 5 soldiers including the accused constable Sattappa have lost their lives.

Border Security Force officials have informed that the condition of a jawan injured in this incident remains critical. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to find out the reasons for the firing. Head constable DS Toraskar, head constable Baljinder Kumar, constable Ratan Chand are also among the soldiers who died in this incident.

The incident took place at the force’s eatery in Khasa area, about 20 km from the Attari-Wagah border crossing near the India-Pakistan international border. Officials said that among the personnel who died, the jawan who opened fire was also included.


Officials said senior officials of the Border Security Force have rushed to the spot.
