BSF: One Border Security Force Jawan died and two Assam Rifles Personnel were injured in Manipur’s Serou area in fighting between Security Forces and terrorists. The other Jawan also suffered gunshot wounds. The injured Jawans were later taken to Mantripukhri by air ambulance. Search Operation in the area is underway. The security Forces escalated the operations in the area after at least 100 houses of Manipur’s kakching district were set on fire by suspected terrorists in the area.
Security Forces appeal for calm
There have incidents of violence in Manipur area in the last few days. The recent violence was reported on May 3 during a rally organized by the All Tribals Students Union to protest the demand for the inclusion of Meiti in the Scheduled Tribe category following an April High Court directive. The area domination operations have resulted in the recovery of 40 weapons and other ammunitions.
Following the directions of the Home Minister Amit Shah, the security forces appealed to everyone in possession of the snatched weapons to surrender for ensuring peace and stability. Security Forces also warned the failure to surrender these weapons will lead to serious legal action.
