Delhi’s Karkardooma Court on Monday dismissed the bail plea of suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councilor Tahir Hussain in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer Ankit Sharma murder case during the Delhi riots. The court on Thursday reserved its order while hearing the bail plea of Tahir Hussain.
“… I find that the riots in the area of North-East Delhi were carried out in an organised manner and as part of deep-rooted conspiracy and the involvement of applicant is being investigated upon with regard to his connection with members of PFI, Pinjratod, Jamia Co- ordination Committee, United Against Hate Group and anti-CAA protesters,” additional sessions judge Vinod Yadav observed while hearing Hussain’s bail plea.
At least 53 people were killed and more than 200 people were injured in the violence. At the same time government and private property was also severely damaged. Huge mobs blew up houses, shops, vehicles, a petrol pump and threw stones at local people and police personnel.
According to the information, the Crime Branch has accused 10 people including Tahir Hussain for the murder of Ankit Sharma in the 650-page charge sheet filed in Karkardooma court in the case of murder of IB officer Ankit Sharma during Delhi Violence.
Ankit Sharma, 26, a Security Assistant with IB, was dragged by the mob and attacked with knives, sticks, rods and stones before his body was dumped in a drain during the violence that swept through northeast Delhi in February-end, the police said. The body was found the next day.
