Another ‘Hate Crime’: Indian Student Stabbed 11 times in Australia

An Indian student has been stabbed 11 times in Australia’s Sydney. The incident took place on October 6 but came into highlight when the family urged the central government for help.

Shubham Garg was stabbed on his way back from ATM in Sydney. He was trapped by a man who was carrying a sharp knife. The Knifeman assaulted Shubham and asked him to give him all the money. When he refused, the attacker stabbed him repeatedly before running away.

Shubham Garg, 28, pursuing a PhD from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, was attacked on October 6.

His parents, who live in Agra in Uttar Pradesh, have been trying to get a visa to travel to Australia.

“Shubham somehow survived the attack. We found out on October 8 when he didn’t answer my call and we called his friend,” said his father, Ramniwas Garg.

“He had an 11-hour surgery in his abdomen. I request the government to help with my son’s treatment and a visa for my younger son,” he added.

Shubham’s sister took to Twitter to urge the central government for help.
