Anti-Terror Agency Raids Popular Front Of India Leaders

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has raided the Popular Front of India (PFI) and its links across the country. The investigating agency has taken this action in the matter of terror funding and running the camp. ED, NIA and state police arrested 106 people belonging to PFI from 11 states in different cases. NIA arrested PFI National President OMS Salam and Delhi President Parvez Ahmed. Some of these people can be brought to the Delhi headquarters of the NIA. In such a situation, the security of the NIA office has been increased. Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with NSA, Home Secretary and DG NIA regarding the ongoing raid against PFI across the country.

NIA has raided the PFI and its affiliated locations in many states including UP, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu.

The NIA got information about suspicious activities of a large number of PFI and its associated people, on the basis of which the investigating agency is doing a massive crackdown today. ED, NIA and state police have arrested 106 people in 11 states. This is the biggest action so far regarding training activities, terror funding and connecting people with the organization of PFI and its people.

The investigating agency has arrested the maximum number of 22 people from Kerala. After that 20 people have been arrested from Maharashtra and Karnataka, 5 from Andhra Pradesh, 9 from Assam, 3 from Delhi, 4 from Madhya Pradesh, 3 from Puducherry, 10 from Tamil Nadu, 8 from UP and 2 from Rajasthan. According to officials, arrests have been made during the raid, which is being called the biggest action till date.

People associated with PFI have been arrested from Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh and Ghazipur. Apart from this, two people have been arrested from Indiranagar in Lucknow. Assam Police has also detained 9 people associated with PFI from the state. Raids have also been conducted in many districts including Madurai, Theni in Tamil Nadu. The Union Home Ministry is continuously monitoring the joint operation of ED, NIA and state police which started late at night. However, after the action on the people associated with PFI, there have been protests by SDPI and PFI workers in Bengaluru and Mangaluru.

On NIA raid, PFI General Secretary Abdul Sattar said that agencies are being used by the fascist regime to suppress the voices of protest. He said that the latest example of atrocities being committed by the government was seen in the middle of the night, when the central agencies NIA and ED conducted raids in the houses of popular leaders. The houses of national, state and local level leaders are being raided. Raids are also being conducted at the state committee office. Strongly oppose the steps taken by the fascist regime to use agencies to silence the voices of protest.
