Penultimate of a series of talks between the two states
After the meeting, Khandu told reporters that it may be considered the penultimate of a series of talks between the two states following the famous Namsai Declaration.
"I need to meet with my Assam colleague, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, one more time to come to a definitive agreement and long-term solution. By the end of November, we both intend to settle all of our problems," he continued.
Khandu said that twelve committees, each with members from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, were established after the Namsai Declaration and were each led by a cabinet minister. These committees collectively visited the in dispute areas, solicited opinions from both sides, and then reported back to the state governments of their respective states.
Today, we had a thorough discussion of these reports. I'm glad to see that all of the reports are accurate and that the committees from the two states truly and cooperatively worked to resolve this boundary dispute he further added.

He expressed his appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah's drive to ensure effective communication between the two neighbouring states so that the border dispute may be settled out of court.
