Arvind Kejriwal: “Need Center’s Cooperation and PM’s Blessing,” Delhi CM after historic win in MCD Elections

Arvind Kejriwal: After his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) defeated the BJP in today’s civic body election in Delhi, ending that party’s 15-year rule, Arvind Kejriwal stated he required the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the collaboration of the Centre.
The Delhi Chief Minister addressed AAP members and stated, “I love you too,” praising voters for the overwhelming victory in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) election.

With its triumph, the AAP, which has been in control in the capital since 2015, now has a “double engine” government for the first time.

The party claims that the BJP is using the civic body, the lieutenant governor, and the government at the centre to impede it at every turn.

Kejriwal asks for PM Modi’s Aashirvad

“We need the central government’s help. We need the PM and Centre’s aashirvad (blessing),” said Mr. Kejriwal.

According to him, the key finding of these polls was that people prefer positive politics than negative ones.

“I appeal to all parties and candidates – we have indulged in politics till this point. Now we have to work together. We want the cooperation of BJP and Congress. Together, we will fix Delhi,”  the Chief Minister remarked.

AAP deposed the BJP by capturing 134 seats, eight more than the required majority in a 250-member assembly. With Prime Minister Modi, seven chief ministers, and other prominent leaders running a high-profile campaign, the BJP gained 104 seats. As its fall in Delhi continues, the Congress has been down to nine members.

AAP has never before defeated the BJP in any election

“We worked day and night to fix schools, we worked day and night to fix hospitals, today they have given us the responsibility of cleaning up Delhi, ending corruption… There are many responsibilities,” said Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal.

He cautioned as he concluded his remarks.”Never become arrogant. Arrogance has brought down many greats. People may forgive your arrogance but God never will,” said he.

Despite the fact that the BJP has been out of power in Delhi for 24 years, it maintained significant control over the MCD under the rule of the Congress and AAP governments. Even though AAP won a record 67 out of 70 seats in the Delhi election in 2015, the BJP kept control of the MCD two years later.
