As the covid-19 cases continue to mount, Punjab has now introduced new set of guidelines in a bid to curb the deadly virus. Those residing in covid-19 hotspots will have to witness night curfew from Monday as the government tries every attempt to control the virus spread that has seen surge in the past two weeks.
The health officials have now ordered to limit the number of people to 100 and those gathering outdoors to 200. The decision has come after chief minister Amarinder Singh’s meeting with health experts and senior officers that was held on February 23. Meanwhile, Singh has also asked deputy commissioners of areas with high number of cases to impose night curfews.
The chief minister also stressed on the need of wearing face masks and maintaining social distance. He said that all the states will also have to ensure large gathering including wedding venues will maintain strict covid-19 guidelines. The chief minister also said that a new guideline related to cinema halls’ occupancy will also be taken after March 1.
Singh also ordered daily Covid-19 testing to be ramped up to 30,000 tests a day. Since the inception of the pandemic, 49,99,390 samples have been collected for testing in the state till February 28, PTI reported.
Punjab has continued to witness rise in daily number of cases. The state recorded 582 new cases of covid-19 on Sunday. As of now, the state’s total tally stands at 1,82,176
