Rakesh Tikait: The Bharatiya Kisan Union’s national spokesperson, Rakesh Tikait, has called for a Bharat Bandh on February 16. Farmers and store owners have also found him appealing. He indicated that MSP, employment, Agniveer, and pension concerns will be brought up.

Declaration of Bharat Bandh

Rakesh Tikait reportedly told news agency ANI that the United Kisan Morcha and numerous other organisations had joined the Bharat Bandh, which was declared on February 16. On February 16, farmers shouldn’t be out in the fields working. It has been requested that stores remain closed as well. This will address matters such as MSP, employment, Agniveer, pensions, and so forth.

Symbolic Agricultural Strike

According to the BKU leader, February 16 is a closed day in India. It involves a large number of unions. On that day, farmers should refrain from working in the fields and should skip a day of work altogether. We took a day off work before as well during Amavasya. Farmers celebrate Amavasya on February 16. There will be a strong message sent if there is an agricultural strike nationwide.

Appeal to Store Owners and Farmers

Tikait has made a request that store owners refrain from opening. In the name of labourers and farmers, one day. This covers matters such as pensions and unemployment. He said, “We are pleading with retailers and farmers to refrain from shopping on February 16th.”

Rakesh Tikait addressed the concerns, stating that they are related to the MSP Guarantee Act, unemployment, Agniveer, and pensions. According to him, a one-day closure has also been requested for the carriers. There will be participation from other organisations as well.
