BJP Castigates Rahul Gandhi’s First Speech in Parliament as LoP, Check

Rahul Gandhi's inaugural speech as the Leader of the Opposition has sparked significant backlash from the BJP, with multiple leaders condemning his remarks and calling for an apology.

Rahul Gandhi delivered his first address as the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Parliament yesterday. He was carrying pictures of religious leaders like Lord Shiva and a copy of the Constitution. Sharp criticism against the BJP and RSS, was part of his speech, which caused a major stir. Rahul Gandhi stated, “Those who claim to be Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, and untruth… You are not a Hindu.”

BJP’s Strong Reactions

Following Rahul Gandhi’s remarks in the Lok Sabha, prominent BJP figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and more responded.

Shah demanded an apology from Gandhi, saying, “Rahul Gandhi must apologise for his remarks painting all Hindus as violent.” Shah further criticised Gandhi for spreading misinformation, urging for a verification of the facts and truths in his speech.

Anurag Thakur’s Jibe

BJP leader Anurag Thakur mocked Rahul Gandhi for frequently holding the Constitution, commenting, “These opposition leaders who are creating confusion by chanting Constitution-Constitution do not even know how many pages are there in the Constitution.”

Ashwini Vaishnaw on Rahul Gandhi’s Responsibility

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the responsibility associated with the Leader of Opposition role, criticising Gandhi, he stated, “The position of Leader of Opposition is a very responsible position…Rahul ji has taken up a responsibility for the first time but despite taking up responsibility for the first time, today he has given very irresponsible statement. He said that no compensation is given to the martyrs, there can be no bigger lie than this. Today, when he was giving his speech, the Defence Minister clarified in the House itself that the martyrs get a compensation of Rs 1 crore. He should look at his facts. It is not that Congress has raised questions on the Army for the first time, Congress has always raised such questions on the Army and tried to mislead the country…”

Kiren Rijiju’s Condemnation

BJP leader Kiren Rijiju took to X (formerly Twitter) to condemn Gandhi’s remarks on Hindus, stating, “I condemn Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji for terming Hindus as violent, hateful & untruthful community. He can’t insult Hindus without any reasons.”

Yogi Adityanath’s Response

CM of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath taking to X stated, “Shri Rahul Gandhi’s statement is a bundle of lies, a conspiracy to defame Uttar Pradesh and Shri Ayodhya Dham… When the time comes, Shri Ayodhya Dham and the people of the country will give the answer to the Congress Party and the Indy alliance.”

Pushkar Singh Dhami’s Criticism

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami condemned Gandhi’s remarks, saying, “The more the statement of Rahul Gandhi in Parliament is condemned, the less it is. The manner in which he called the entire Hindu community ‘violent’ is highly condemnable. He has always been proud of insulting the Hindu community… Rahul Gandhi is the Leader of Opposition, it is a dignified position. He should be serious. May God give him wisdom.”

Chirag Paswan’s Remarks

Union Minister Chirag Paswan also expressed his disapproval, stating, “You need to understand the seriousness of being the Leader of Opposition. You cannot make such remarks and you are insulting the devotees of Lord Shiva. I am also a devotee of Lord Shiva. The way you were showing the picture of Lord Shiva in the House, none of his devotees will tolerate it.”
