Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent comments on the Modi government‘s handling of the border conflict with China have ignited a firestorm of criticism from BJP leaders. While on a visit to Washington D.C., Gandhi described the current administration’s approach to the ongoing standoff with China as a “disaster,” alleging that Chinese troops have occupied 4,000 square kilometres of Indian territory near the Line of Actual Control (LAC). This statement has drawn sharp rebukes from several prominent BJP figures, who have accused Gandhi and the Congress party of making anti-national statements.
Amit Shah Slams Rahul Gandhi for Anit-National Remarks
Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his disapproval of Gandhi’s remarks. Shah stated, “Standing with forces that conspire to divide the country and making anti-national statements have become a habit for Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party. Whether it is supporting the JKNC’s anti-national and anti-reservation agenda in J&K or making anti-India statements on foreign platforms, Rahul Gandhi has always threatened the nation’s security and hurt sentiments.”
Amit Malviya’s Criticism of Gandhi’s US Visit
During his visit to the United States, Gandhi met with various U.S. lawmakers, including Ilhan Omar, a figure often criticised by BJP leaders for her positions on India. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya and other leaders took to social media to denounce Gandhi’s meeting with Omar. Malviya wrote, “India’s Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi meets Ilhan Omar in the USA, a Pakistan sponsored anti-India voice, a radical Islamist and an advocate of independent Kashmir. Even Pakistani leaders would be more circumspect about being seen with such rabid elements. Congress is now openly working against India.”
Giriraj Singh and Ravi Shankar Prasad Weigh In
BJP leader Giriraj Singh also joined the fray, retweeting criticisms about Gandhi’s alleged anti-India stance and connections with controversial figures. Singh’s tweet emphasized Gandhi’s perceived alignment with groups and statements critical of India, further fueling the debate.
Ravi Shankar Prasad, another senior BJP leader, criticised Gandhi’s foreign engagements, saying, “Whenever Rahul Gandhi goes abroad, it becomes his mission to degrade and insult India. When he goes out, his love for China comes to the fore.”
