Budget 2023: Ed-tech industry looks for reforms to make India an education hub

Budget 2023: If one section that benefitted from the Covid-19 pandemic induced lockdown, it has to be ed-tech in India. Driven by increased access to technology, the demand for online education has shown rapid growth among parents as well children. The government has also been vocal of their support to the sector, introducing various policies at regular intervals.

Holistic development of rural education

As the Ed-tech sector continues to grow, educationalists have more expectations from the budget 2023 than ever. In the upcoming budget, it is expected of the government that it will bring new measures to enhance the current system. Special focus would be on the measures that the government will introduce for the rural sectors. This could also mean government introducing better technology and investing in start ups. Additionally, the government is also expected to focus on skill development and vocational training. The job market is ever-changing. With the advent of the digital world, students have more opportunities in the digital world. Introducing skill-based learning pattern in curriculum will help students’ holistic government.

Introduction of NEP 

The National Education Policy which was passed in 2020 is expected to be implemented soon. With this, the curriculum is expected to be streamlined with the policy bringing comprehensive reforms. The government will also be focusing on making India a global education hub, promoting education tourism. This can entail making it easier for international students to obtain visas and offering tax breaks to foreign colleges that establish campuses in India.

The government has been keen in spending in the ed-tech market. The government could fund for ed-startups, offering tax incentives for companies operating in the sector. Meanwhile, the government also continues to promote the use of technology in education.
