Canada expels Indian Diplomat; Trudeau Points Finger at India on Khalistani terrorist killing

Canada: After Prime Minister Justin Trudeau suggested that there may have been a connection between the Indian government and the June execution of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Canada on Monday expelled a senior Indian envoy. According to Trudeau, the national security agencies are looking into whether the Indian government was involved in the execution of the Khalistani terrorist. As a result, the chief of Indian intelligence in Canada, according to Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly, has been expelled.

The execution of a Canadian citizen, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, was allegedly linked to operatives of the Indian government, according to credible claims made by the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, who was speaking at the House of Commons in Ottawa. “Canadian security agencies have been actively pursuing credible allegations of a potential link between agents of the Government of India and the killing of a Canadian citizen, Hardeep Singh Nijjar,” Trudeau said while speaking at the House of Commons in Ottawa.

On June 18 of this year, a targeted gunshot killed the Indian government’s wanted man Hardeep Singh Nijjar. In Surrey, Nijjar was fatally shot outside a gurdwara. PM Modi had discussed his grave concerns with Justin Trudeau about the ongoing “anti-India activities” being carried out by “extremist elements” in Canada during a meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit. “He (Prime Minister Modi) conveyed our strong concerns about continuing anti-India activities of extremist elements in Canada. They are promoting secessionism and inciting violence against Indian diplomats, damaging diplomatic premises, and threatening the Indian community in Canada and their places of worship,” the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said. The chief of Canada’s spy service and the nation’s national security advisor, according to Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc, have headed to India to meet with their counterparts and present the charges to the Indian intelligence agencies. An ongoing homicide investigation, he said.
