Centre bans terror groups Khalistan Tiger Force, J-K Ghaznavi Force, here’s details

Modi government has taken strong action against terrorists. The Center has banned the Jammu and Kashmir Ghaznavi Force (JKGF). It was formed to help terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. Apart from this, the government has also banned the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), which aims to revive militancy in Punjab.

One declared terrorist

According to a separate notification, Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, living in Pakistan and associated with Babbar Khalsa International, has been declared a terrorist. According to a Home Ministry notification, the JKGF has been involved in infiltration attempts, drug and arms smuggling, terrorist attacks and regular threats to security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. This organization has also been using social media platforms to instigate the people of Jammu and Kashmir to join terrorist organizations against India.

Involved in terrorist incidents

The Home Ministry said that JKGF has been inducting terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen, Harkat-ul-Jihad-e-Islami and other terrorist outfits. According to the notification, JKGF has been declared a terrorist organization in exercise of the powers conferred under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). The ministry said that this terrorist group has carried out various acts of terrorism in the country. JKGF is the 43rd group to be proscribed under the anti-terror law.

KTF, which came into existence in 2011, is a banned terrorist organization under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). KTF is an organization affiliated to Babbar Khalsa International. The Ministry of Home Affairs pointed out that KTF is a terrorist organization and its objective is to achieve its agenda of formation of a separate state of Khalistan and revival of militancy in Punjab. This organization challenges India’s territorial integrity, unity, national security and sovereignty.

Who is Harvinder Singh Sandhu

Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, living in Pakistan and associated with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), has been declared a terrorist. Sandhu is believed to be one of the conspirators of the attack on the intelligence headquarters of the Punjab Police in 2021. Interpol had also issued a ‘Red Corner Notice’ against him. The Home Ministry said that Harvinder Singh Sandhu has direct links with Pakistan-based terrorist groups and has been involved in cross-border smuggling of arms and ammunition, besides large-scale narcotics. The ministry said he has been involved in various criminal incidents like murder, attempt to murder, dacoity and extortion in Punjab, Maharashtra, Haryana, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Singh is now the 54th person to be declared a terrorist by the government.

It may be noted that last month, the central government had banned two proxy organizations of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed and declared four persons as terrorists. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy organization of the Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, was declared a banned group on January 5.
