Chardham Yatra 2021: The doors of Kedarnath Dham closed for winter on the holy festival of Bhaiya Dooj

The doors of Kedarnath and Yamunotri Dham were closed on Saturday on the auspicious occasion of Bhaiya Dooj for the winter season as per tradition. The doors of Kedarnath Dham were closed at 8.00 am. Baba’s Doli will reach Rampur for the night stay while leaving Dham for its winter seat, Omkareshwar Temple, Ukhimath. Whereas on November 7, Baba’s doli will sit in the winter seat. Where devotees will be able to have darshan and worship of their idol for six months.

Special worship of Baba started at Kedarnath temple from 4 am. The aarti was performed by the chief priest Bagesh Ling by anointing Baba Kedar according to the rituals. Simultaneously, the linga was covered with ashes, giving the form of samadhi to the self-styled Jyotirlinga. After this, the Panchmukhi Bhog idol of Baba Kedar was adorned and placed in the movable Vigraha Utsav Doli. As per tradition, the idol of Baba Kedar was kept in the temple premises for the devotees to see.

The doors of Kedarnath Dham were closed at 8:00 am in the presence of Ukhimath SDM Jitendra Verma and Additional Executive Officer of Devasthanam Board. Along with this, the key of the temple door was handed over to the SDM. After this, the doli of Baba Kedar left for the Omkareshwar temple, Ukhimath, its winter seat amidst the cheers of the devotees, doing three rounds of the temple.

The Doli will reach Rampur, the first stop for the night stay, blessing the devotees at Rudra Point, Lincholi, Rambara, Bhimbali, Junglechatti, Gaurikund, Sonprayag. Departing from Rampur on 6th November, Doli will reach Vishwanath Temple Guptkashi for overnight stay. On November 7, the Panchmukhi Bhog idol of Baba Kedar will be placed in the Omkareshwar temple, Ukhimath, the place of the winter Panchkedar throne with the law.
