CJP Protest: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has warned the central government it will resume protests if FIRs registered against student demonstrators and organisers are not withdrawn, reigniting tensions just days after the youth-led movement wound down India-Wide Lockdown.
Government Accused of Breaking Its Word
CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the party had been pressing the government since protests were called off to honour its commitment on withdrawing cases. He said Union Minister JP Nadda had assured them a written agreement would be provided by Tuesday, and warned they would be forced to revolt again if it did not arrive. Ranka added that the group was prepared to move court if the FIRs were not withdrawn.

The party’s legal advisor, senior lawyer Kapil Sibal, has been involved in briefings alongside spokespersons Saurav Das and Ranka. According to reports, 15 FIRs have been registered so far across police stations in New Delhi district in connection with violence linked to the protests, with over 2,500 individuals identified through CCTV footage, digital evidence and witness statements as part of the ongoing probe.
Heavy Security Deployment Continues
Delhi Police have kept security levels elevated across New Delhi and Central Delhi districts in anticipation of renewed demonstrations. Personnel leave has been cancelled, and officers from other districts have been deployed to reinforce law and order in the capital.
