Clean India: Now villages will also get cleanliness ranking

The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Union Ministry of Jalshakti launched Swachh Survekshan Gramin (SSG)- 2021, Phase II of the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin. The main objective of this survey is to remove the barriers and accelerate the programs of the mission towards making ODF plus villages after being open defecation free. The waterlogging situation in your village, the management of plastic waste including solid and liquid waste will make the biggest difference in the SSG-2021 ranking. The group meetings, feedback from about 1.75 lakh families in 17,475 villages and the mobile app will decide the cleanliness ranking of the village.

Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti Prahlad Singh Patel along with launching Swachh Survekshan-2021 also launched a mobile app for feedback in all regional languages ​​including Hindi-English. The field survey in the survey will run from October 25 to December 23. Patel said that from the last survey it was found that Swachh Bharat has reached rural India. Now our achievements will come out in the new survey. Cleanliness is the biggest weapon for a healthy India. Whatever shortcomings will come out in the independent agency survey, it will give an opportunity for improvement.

According to Pankaj Kumar, Secretary, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), this is the largest survey of its kind in the country. Appealed to the states to actively participate in the survey and help in making the name of their village bright. Additional Secretary Arun Baroka said that an expert agency has been entrusted with the task of conducting a large survey. A dashboard for online monitoring and results has also been prepared.

In the survey, villages, districts and states will be ranked using certain set parameters. Under this survey, 17,475 villages in 698 districts across the country will be covered. 87,250 public places (schools, anganwadis, public health centres, haats/markets/religious places) will be visited for the survey of these 17,450 villages, district and then state rankings.

An online application has been created so that maximum people can participate in the cleanliness survey. People will be motivated to give feedback on cleanliness related issues using the application. Last time there were 30 million feedbacks on the mobile application. This time it is likely to reach above four crores. The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation had earlier conducted Swachh Survekshan Gramin in the year 2018 and 2019.
