Arvinder Singh Lovely joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday, a few days after he resigned as president of the Delhi Congress in protest of the party's alliance with India block partner AAP and the choice of party candidates.
Arvinder Singh Lovely Joins in Presence of Union Minister
In the presence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, he joined the BJP along with four other former Congress leaders. The Delhi Youth Congress chief Amit Malik and the three former Congress MLAs who recently quit the party, Rajkumar Chauhan, Neeraj Basoya, and Naseeb Singh, are among the four new members of the party.
Clarity on Departure
Lovely had earlier stated that he had only left the party position and not the party, despite the belief of some AAP leaders and the Congress leadership that he would rejoin the BJP. Beautiful's departure on April 28th damaged the party's reputation and outlook.
Lovely's resignation, which comes four days after former Delhi minister Rajkumar Chauhan left the party and led the Delhi unit since August of last year, is a setback for the Congress's campaign for the May 25 elections in Delhi.
