Rahul Gandhi disqualification

Rahul Gandhi disqualification: In opposition to Rahul Gandhi’s exclusion from the Lok Sabha, the Congress will stage a day-long “Satyagraha” in his support in front of Gandhi sculptures in all state and district headquarters on Sunday. The demonstration will start at 10 am and last till 5 pm.

Mallikarjun Kharge will organise the satyagraha at Raj Ghat

Rahul Gandhi was found guilty in a 2019 defamation lawsuit, and as a result, he was barred from serving as a Lok Sabha MP. This is the backdrop to the protest. For saying “why all thieves have Modi surname” at a rally in Kolar, Karnataka, prior to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he was given a two-year prison sentence. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, general secretary of the Congress, and party president Mallikarjun Kharge will organise the satyagraha at Raj Ghat in the capital. On Saturday, KC Venugopal, general secretary of the Congress, said that party members would participate in the Sankalp Satyagraha at Gandhi statues and all state capitols. According to Delhi Police, permission was requested for the Congress’s Satyagraha, but it was not granted. However, the police made the necessary security arrangements. Authorities denied authorization for the protest and gave several reasons, including the application of Section 144, the state of law and order, and traffic patterns.

It has become a habit for the Modi govt to disallow every opposition protest-KC Venugopal

In the meantime, a defiant Rahul Gandhi stated on Saturday that by barring him from office for life, the government had given the opposition a “huge weapon” and that he would continue to fight democracy in the nation regardless of the consequences. In retaliation, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad claimed that Rahul Gandhi had insulted the underprivileged and that he had been found guilty in a defamation case for his 2019 comments. KC Venugopal Twitted,”After silencing our voice in Parliament, the govt has refused to let us hold a peaceful Satyagraha at Bapu’s samadhi as well. It has become a habit for the Modi govt to disallow every opposition protest. This will not deter us, our fight for truth, against tyranny goes on.”
