Conman posing as PMO official meets top J&K officials, arrested

In attempt to fool the authorities, a man pretended to be a high-profile PMO official and conducted meetings while making two trips to Jammu and Kashmir’s border regions.

Cases involving impersonation are among those that frequently make the news and make one wonder how far one might go; this one is undoubtedly another one.

According to NDTV, a Gujarati man named Kiran Bhai Patel pretended to be a member of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in order to obtain a bulletproof Mahindra Scorpio SUV, a Z-plus security cover, official lodging at a five-star hotel, and much more.

When Patel met with representatives from Jammu and Kashmir, the security men were unaware that they were being duped. According to reports, Patel met with a number of authorities during his two previous trips to Srinagar earlier this year.

He was detained ten days ago while posing as an Additional Director for strategy and campaigns at the PMO. Nevertheless, according to NDTV, his detention wasn’t made public until after a magistrate committed him to judicial custody.

Patel first travelled to the valley in February, according to the report, and he also has a verified Twitter account.

According to the NDTV article, he has more than a thousand supporters, including Pradipsinh Vaghela, the general secretary of the BJP in Gujarat.

According to his Twitter bio, he holds a PhD from Commonwealth University in Virginia, an MBA from IIM Trichy, an M.Tech in computer science, and a B.E. in computer engineering.

On social media, a number of videos showing him visiting the valley with security guards nearby have surfaced, and internet users are astounded by the occurrences.

He was reportedly observed with paramilitary security at Doodhpathri in Budgam while traversing the snow. He was also seen in some videos taking pictures in front of Srinagar’s Lal Chowk clock tower.

Patel also discussed how to attract more tourists from Gujarat

Patel also met with officials to discuss how to attract more tourists from Gujarat and how to establish Doodhpathri as a popular tourist destination.

As he arrived in Srinagar for the second time in two weeks, he drew suspicion. According to reports, a district magistrate who works for the IAS told the police about a “senior PMO official “‘s last month.

After that, the police were informed by the intelligence services about a con artist pretending to be a PMO representative. Agencies requested police to arrest Patel from a hotel in Srinagar after investigating his past.

According to information cited by NDTV, a team of Gujarat police is also involved in the investigations.
