Ateeq Ahmad, a gangster-turned-politician currently held in the Ahmedabad Central Prison, has asked for orders to ensure that he is not physical harmed in any way while being held by the police or being interrogated by them.
This occurs before the Supreme Court hears Ahmad’s petition on March 17 asking for protection and a stop to any attempts to move him from Ahmedabad Central Jail to Prayagraj or any other location in the state of Uttar Pradesh on the grounds that he might be killed in a false encounter.
Ahmad has also asked for a ruling barring the state of Uttar Pradesh and others from transferring him to Prayagraj or any other location inside the state of Uttar Pradesh from the Central Prison in Ahmedabad.
Umesh Pal Murder
A key witness in the 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal, Umesh Pal was shot and killed in the open on February 24, 2005, in front of his home in Prayagraj. Ateeq Ahmad, a Samajwadi Party member is accused in this case. He is also accused of killing BSP MLA Raju Pal and of planning Umesh Pal’s murder plot from Gujrat’s Sabarmati jail.
Umesh Pal and two police officers were shot on February 24 outside his home in Prayagraj by armed individuals. Sandeep Nishad, policemen, and Umesh Pal both passed away.
Earlier, Ram Gopal Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, expressed concern that the police would kill one of Ateeq Ahmad’s sons in a fake encounter in the near future in connection with the

Police are “under pressure from the top to execute anybody they discover” since they can’t track down the genuine offenders, the SP national general secretary warned reporters in Saifai.
Ateeq Ahmad’s aide’s 2 property in Prayagraj was bulldozed after the murder of Umesh Pal. In the midst of a significant police presence, the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) bulldozed the house of a criminal allegedly connected to gangster-turned-politician Ateeq Ahmad earlier this month. The authorities arrived at the house of Mashookuddin, who has dozens of cases registered against him, in the Puramufti area.
