Cyclone Yaas: Red Alert In Odisha Tomorrow, Kolkata Airport To Suspend Ops

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that Cyclone Yaas will turn into a very severe cyclone in the next 24 hours. Yaas will reach the coast of Bengal and Odisha on Wednesday. After the cyclone collided, people have been sent to a safe place to avoid heavy havoc. At the same time, the Home Ministry has assured all the states affected by the cyclone Yaas that the ministry will be ready 24 hours to help them.

Apart from this, the Indian Meteorological Department has informed that on the afternoon of 26 May, Cyclone Yaas will hit the northern Odisha and Bengal coasts.

8 NDRF teams have been deployed in Jharkhand in view of cyclonic storm Yaas.

According to the airport administration, flight operations at Kolkata Airport will be suspended from 8.30 am to 7.45 pm on 26 May.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee told in a press conference that two incidents have taken place due to Hurricane Yaas. 40 houses have been damaged in Halishahar. The second incident took place in Chinsurah, where some houses were reported damaged. Two people have died due to electrocution in Pandua.

Nearly two lakh people have been evacuated to safer places in Odisha in view of cyclone Yaas. The target is to reach 7 lakh people in the cyclone camp. NDRF has given information about this.

Landfall will be in Odisha, red alert in 4 districts –

The Meteorological Department has warned that due to the cyclone, waves of 2-4 meters high may rise in the coastal areas. According to the Meteorological Department, wind is expected to run at a speed of 155 to 165 km per hour during the severe storm. Which can reach a speed of 185 kilometers per hour. According to meteorologists, Yaas Cyclone can make landfall at Dhamra Port between Paradip and Sagar Islands in Odisha by Wednesday (May 26). The meteorological department has issued a red alert in four districts of Odisha .
