Delhi Murder Case: A mix of forensic and technological evidence, 100 witness statements, and a draft chargesheet have been assembled by the Delhi Police in the murder of Shraddha Walkar. The draft chargesheet has been created by the authorities, and legal professionals are currently reviewing it. The chargesheet is touted to be as long as 3000 pages.
Chargesheet to include several evidences
In May of last year, Aaftab Poonawala reportedly killed his live-in spouse Shraddha and sliced her body into 35 parts, which he then allegedly dumped throughout the city over a period of days while living in Mehrauli in south Delhi. The charge sheet will include remains found in Chhatarpur’s forests as well as the DNA analysis that determined the remains belonged to Shraddha Walkar. Two DNA analyses have established that the bones found in South Delhi jungles belonged to Walkar.
Aftab Poonawala’s confession and the results of the narcotics test are also presented, albeit they might not be of much legal significance. According to the prosecution, Poonawala’s police confession would not have been sufficient to get a conviction.
After the Delhi Police detained Aaftab on November 12 of last year, the shocking revelations of Walkar’s murder jolted the whole country. According to the autopsy report on Shraddha Walkar’s bones, her corpse was cut into 35 pieces with a tool like a saw.
Evidences were found in Delhi Jungle
The key development occurred when 13 decomposing body parts, largely fragments of bones, were found in the south Delhi jungles. In his confession, Aaftab admitted to killing the girl during a fights because he and she had been insisting to get married.
A saw, many knives, and numerous other items have also been found by Delhi Police at the apartment where Walkar was slain last year.
When a friend told Walkar’s father, Vikas Madan Walkar, that he hadn’t heard from her in at least two months, the murder came to light. Shraddha’s social media profiles were also used by Aaftab for months to create the appearance that she was still alive.
