Delhi Vadodara Mumbai Expressway: a cornerstone of the nation’s strategic security to protect it from hostile neighbors aggression

The Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway may shield India from China and Pakistan. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently posted some breathtaking photographs of the 1,350-kilometer motorway, which is anticipated to open in January and will reduce travel time between Delhi and Mumbai to 12 hours.

Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway built with fighter aircraft takeoff and landing in mind

The highway will also play a significant role in the nation’s strategic security. At least 55 sections will be constructed on which fighter jets may land and take off, and can be used in case of an emergency. Between Sohna’s Alipur and Mumbai, all of these sections are being constructed. The 269-kilometer motorway has 10 sections between Alipur and Mumbai. Fighter jets and other aircrafts can take off and land here. The area is ready to be utilised, and it might be inaugurated in January.

In the case of war with China and Pakistan, roads will act as a force multiplier

According to reports, the road may be used in the event of a conflict with Pakistan or China. There would be a 120 km/h maximum speed limit on this motorway. The road would also reduce the current five-hour travel time between Gurgaon and Hausa to 2.5 hours. The distance between Delhi and Jaipur would be travelled in half the time.

The need for emergency roads with sections where fighter planes can fly

In 1971, IAF planes forced Pakistani fighter jets to turn back as they tried to approach Agra. Although the Indian Air Force has strategically placed airbases in the area, defence planners had planned for the construction of emergency roads on which fighter jets could land, operate, and cover strategically located cities of northern and central India such as Agra, Gurugram, Gwallior, and Delhi.

The Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway is appropriate for this duty because the runway of a fighter plane should be fully level and straight. The runway should be three kilometres long and 20 metres wide. Portable lighting systems are also required. A number of these portions are planned for the Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway, which will benefit the armed forces on both the eastern and western fronts.
