DMK vs BJP: BJP releases ‘DMK files’ worth rs 1.34 lakh crore, alleging corruption

Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai has made public a long list of assets worth Rs 1.34 lakh crore on Friday (April 14). Releasing the list, Annamalai claimed that the property is held by prominent DMK leaders including Chief Minister MK Stalin’s son and Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.

The list includes Ministers Durai Murugan, EV Velu, K Ponmudi, V Senthil Balaji and former Union Minister S Jagathrakshakan among others.

K Annamalai has named this silt as ‘DMK files’. Annamalai targeted CM MK Stalin, alleging that he was given a bribe of two hundred crore rupees by Stalin to favor a company in a contract case for Chennai Metro Rail before the 2011 assembly elections. He alleged that the money was paid through shell companies. In America, that company was investigated for bribery.

K Annamalai’s expensive watch in news

At the same time, on the funding of his expensive and controversial Dassault watch, BJP President Annamalai said that he had bought the watch in May 2021 from a friend Cheralthan for three lakh rupees. He produced the receipt of the watch purchased from Cheralthan, he did not provide any proof of purchase of the watch.

The State Energy Minister Senthil Balaji had demanded the receipt of this expensive watch of Annamalai a few months back.

Responding to K Annamalai’s allegations, DMK MP RS Bharathi said that it is a joke. “There is not a single allegation of payment of bribe…..All the candidates listed by Annamalai have given details of their assets in their affidavits. If there is even one violation, any citizen can challenge the election.”

Attempt to divert attention from Adani-Arudhara scam

Responding to Annamalai’s allegations, Bharathi said, “The LIC building was built decades ago for Rs 87 crores. Now it is worth thousands of crores. All our leaders will approach the court, and they will have to appear in the court.”

RS Bharti challenges BJP leader Annamalai to file a case against him to prove his bribery charges of Rs 200 crore. He said, “Annamalai is trying to divert attention from Adani’s name in the Hindenburg report and the Arudhara scam.”
