MCC Violation

MCC Violation: The allegations of MCC violations made by Congressman Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were acknowledged by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday. The election panel asked the Congress and BJP to respond by April 29 at 11 a.m.

ECI’s Action Under Section 77 of Representation of the People Act

Invoking section 77 of the Representation of the People Act, the ECI first held party presidents accountable for reining in high-profile campaigners. As a first step, the MCC has exchanged accusations with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and BJP President JP Nadda against Rahul Gandhi and PM Modi.

Increased Accountability for Political Parties

The political parties will be held primarily and increasingly accountable for the actions of their candidates, especially the front-runners. High-ranking individuals’ political remarks have more detrimental effects, according to the ECI.

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, is allegedly making misleading claims about the rise in poverty in the nation, according to the BJP, which called for “strict action” from the Election Commission against him on Monday.

BJP Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Divisive Tactics

In addition to accusing Gandhi of dividing the nation along linguistic and regional lines in order to undermine the election mood, the BJP filed a complaint with the poll body. On Monday, the Congress officially filed a complaint with the electoral board, requesting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi be held accountable.

Congress Calls for Disqualification of Candidates Creating Divisions

“The only available remedy compatible with the principle of zero tolerance towards allegations of corrupt practices, is the disqualification of the candidates who try to create a divide between different classes of the citizens of India regardless of the stature or position of that candidate,” the Congress memorandum had said.
