Exceptions to Fasting! Who is Allowed to Skip Roza? The Rules of Fasting in Islam during Mahe Ramzan

Ramdan 2023: The beginning of the Holy month of Mahe Ramzan has started from 24 March 2023 and Rojedar is keeping fast from 25 March. The rule of fasting in Islam has been explained. Fasting is the same duty on you as it was on the earlier Ummah

It is believed that fasting in Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, started in the second Hijri. It is said in the second verse of the Qur’an, Surah Al-Baqarah, that fasting is the same duty on you as it was on the earlier Ummah. It is said that a year after the Prophet Sahab reached Madina after Hijrat, the people of the Muslim community were ordered to keep Roza. Then the tradition of fasting started in the second Hijri.

Who is required to fast and who is free from the obligation to fast

  • It has been said in the Quran and Hadith that it is the duty of every adult man and woman to fast in Ramadan. But those who are sick, very old, body is not capable of fasting, mentally ill, very young children, pregnant women are exempted from fasting.
  • Women are allowed not to fast even during menstruation. But for the number of days missed in menstruation, it is completed by keeping the same number of fasts later.
  • If a sick person feels well, he can fast at the first opportunity.
  • The person who is always ill, instead of fasting for 30 days, it has been said to feed 60 poor people both the times or to pay 1.2 kg wheat to 60 poor people or its equivalent amount at the market price.
  • If a person is on a journey and finds it difficult to fast, then it has been said that he should fast as soon as the journey is over, otherwise he will be guilty.
  • It is also said that those who do not keep fast in the whole month of Ramadan. He cannot even offer Eid prayers with the fasting people.
  • Such people who do not fast even though they are adults and physically healthy, such people are guilty and they are destined for hell.
