Farmer unions calls for complete ‘Bharat Bandh’ on March 26

The farmer unions on Wednesday called for a complete ‘Bharat Bandh’ on March 26, to mark the completion of four months of their protest near Delhi border against centre’s farm law. ANI

The Sankyut Kisan Morcha will revealing it’s future course of action in context to the agitation over the controversial agriculture law has asked for the nationwide Bharat strike.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha, the umbrella body of agitating farm unions, has also announced that farmer bodies and trade unions will protest privatisation and fuel price hike on March 15.

Thousands of farmers, mostly from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, have been camping at the Delhi border points — Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur — for over three months, demanding the repeal of farm laws and a legal guarantee on the minimum support price(MSP) for their crops.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Wednesday said he will go to Kolkata this week to urge farmers to defeat the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections.

However, he said that will not support any political party.

The farmer leader said they will observe “Mandi Bachao-Kheti Bachao” day on March 19. They have also decided to celebrate Shaheedi divas’ of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. Farmers leaders also said that copies of the new farm laws will be burnt during Holika Dahan’ on March 28.
