Female Army Officers to Assist PM Modi in Raising Flag at Independence Day 2023 Celebrations

Independence Day 2023: At the Independence Day 2023 celebrations, which will take place at Red Fort on August 15, two female army officers will help Prime Minister Narendra Modi in raising the flag. PM Modi will receive assistance from Indian Army Majors Nikita Nair and Jasmine Kaur as they host the flag. The Prime Minister will be joined by former Miss OTA and Bharatanatyam dancer Major Nikita Nair. Nair previously held the title of Miss OTA while undergoing training. She has previously won the 2013 competition for “May Queen Miss Pune.” In 2016, Nikita received his Army commission as a Lieutenant, and today he is a Major, serving the country. She received her training at the Chennai-based Officers Training Academy.

Dazzling Ceremonial Salutes and Aerial Petal Shower to Enrich Independence Day Celebrations

The firing of the 21-gun salute by the elite 8711 Field Battery (Ceremonial), under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Vikas Kumar, will coincide with the raising of the flag. The Rashtriya Salute will be delivered by the National Flag Guard, which consists of five officers and 128 Other Ranks from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Delhi Police, when the Prime Minister raises the National Flag. This Inter-Services Guard and Police Guard will be under the direction of Major Abhinav Detha from the Army. After the prime minister hoists the flag, two Indian Air Force Dhruv advanced light helicopters Mark-III, flown by Wing Commander Amber Agarwal and Squadron Leader Himanshu Sharma, will scatter petals on the event.

PM’s Address Marks Culmination of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations

The Prime Minister will address the nation after the flower petal shower. This year’s Independence Day will culminate the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, launched by the PM from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on March 12, 2021, and will, once again, usher the country into Amrit Kaal (the run-up to India’s independence centenary) with renewed vigour to realise the dream of making India a developed country by 2047, the statement said.
