G 20 Presidency: Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has accused the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) for orchestrating theatrics and staging a high voltage drama around India assuming the Presidency of the G 20, by saying that it was inevitable.
India assumed the Presidency of G 20 on Thursday, December 1.

He further stated that G 20 Presidency is rotational and India’s Presidency was inevitable and previous Presdent of G 20 have been USA, UK, Canada, South Korea, France, Russia, Australia, Turkey, China, Germany, Argentina, Japan , Saudi Arabia , Italy and Indonesia.
Further stated that none of these countries have hyped and staged drama on becoming a G 20 President and recalled that in 2014, LK Advani had called Mr Modi a brilliant event manager in Gandhi Nagar.

As India formally assumed the G 20 Presidency on Thursday, December 1, Prime Minister Modi said that India assuming the Presidency of G 20 is a significant milestone for Indian diplomacy and it will work to further global good through an inclusive, action oriented and decisive agenda, which will benefit the humanity as a whole.

After India formally took over the G 20 Presidency on Thursday, it was announced that 100 monuments across the country , including UNESCO world heritage sites , would be lit up to celebrate the momentous occasion.
