Ganesh Chaturthi 2022: Mumbai’s iconic Ganesha of Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal gave a glimpse of their famed idol for this year on Monday (August 29), two days before the festival. The first glimpse of Lord Ganesha’s 14-foot-tall idol has been revealed, delighting devotees across the nation. The special significance of 2022 is that the festival will be celebrated with greatness after two years of muted festivities due to the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.
The country will begin celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi on August 31 and will conclude with Ganesh Pratima Visarjan on September 9. Vinayaka Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chavithi is another name for the day 10 festival. The festival is celebrated with great pomp and show by people from all over the country.

The Lalbaugcha Raja is a well-liked and popular Ganesh idol in Mumbai. Every year, thousands of devotees flock to Lalbaug to pray to the Lalbaugcha Raja. The Lalbaugcha Raja Mandal, located in Central Mumbai, has been placing the Ganesha idol at its pandal since 1934.

Meanwhile, preparations for the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration are underway across the country. Earlier, the first look of Lord Ganesh’s Chinchpokli Chintamani idol was unveiled in Mumbai in front of a large crowd. A 120-foot-high replica of Ayodhya’s Ram Temple is being built in the Dhamankar Naka area of Bhiwandi in Thane, Maharashtra.
Some people are choosing to celebrate the festival in an entirely eco-friendly manner. To save the environment, an artisan in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal is making Ganesh idols out of sago and black pepper seeds, making them completely eco-friendly because no colour is used.
This auspicious ten-day period, also known as Ganeshotsav, begins on Chaturthi Tithi and concludes on Anantha Chaturdashi. Lord Ganesh, the god of wisdom and fortune, is born during the Shukla Paksha of the Bhadrapada month, according to devotees. During this festival, people bring Lord Ganesh idols to their homes, fast, prepare delectable delicacies, pray to the Lord, and perform rituals.
