Guru Nanak Jayanti 2022: On November 8th, banks in various states will be closed in observance of Guru Nanak Jayanti. According to the RBI, some bank holidays are state-specific, and banks are closed nationwide during national holidays.

In places like Tripura, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Goa, Kerala, Bihar, and Meghalaya, banks won’t be closed on November 8 in observance of Guru Nanak Jayanti/Kartika Purnima/Rahas Purnima.

For the whole month of November, there are ten holidays. This applies to every Sunday of the month as well as the second and fourth Saturdays. Banks are open as normal on the first and third Saturdays of the month.

Apart from the second Saturday and Sunday, the RBI has designated November 1, 8, and 11 and November 23 as holidays. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has divided the holidays into three categories: Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday, Holiday Under Negotiable Instruments Act, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

Banks are closed in November on these days

1 November: Banks in Bengaluru and Imphal will stay closed on November 1 due to the Kannada Rajyotsava/Kut.

6 November: Sunday

8 November: Guru Nanak Jayanti, Kartika Purnima, and Rash Purnima all fall on November 8. All cities’ banks would be closed, with the exception of Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal, Kochi, Panaji, Patna, Shillong, and Thiruvananthapuram.

11 November: Kanakadasa Jayanthi/Wangala Festival is on November 11. In Shillong and Bengaluru, banks will be closed.

November 12: Second Saturday

November 13: Sunday

November 20: Sunday

November 23: Shillong’s banks will stay closed for Seng Kutsnem.

November 26: Fourth Saturday

27 November: Sunday

Numerous bank holidays occurred in September and October. Surprisingly, banks were shut down for a total of 21 days in October 2022, including the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays, throughout different states individually (though not one bank is closed more than three / four days in the month).
