The government has ordered closure of schools and colleges in 22 districts of Tamil Nadu. The government has taken this step after the Meteorological Department issued a warning of heavy rain. The government has taken this step so that there is no harm to the people. Incessant rains had caused waterlogging in many parts of Madurai city yesterday. The District Collector here had already declared a holiday in Madurai schools yesterday.

Keeping in view the changing weather patterns, two days back, the IMD has predicted light to moderate rain at one or two places in Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Tuthukudi, Sivaganga, Madurai, Theni, Dindugal, Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai districts and Karaikal.
