Independence Day 2022: India got independence on August 15th, 1947 from British rule and this year we will celebrate 75 years of independence as Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Every year, the Prime Minister of the country hoists the tricolour flag at the Red Fort and addresses the country after the national anthem. After the speech, the freedom fighters of India are given a 21-page salute. On August 15, 1947, the country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru hoisted the tricolour flag at the Red Fort.
