India-Australia joint military exercise Austra Hind 2022 details

A joint military exercise between the armies of Australia and India will begin in Rajasthan on 28 November. This military exercise has been named ‘Austra Hind-22’.

In a press release issued by the Ministry of Defense, it has been told that this joint military exercise will take place at the Maharaj Field Firing Range in Rajasthan. It aims to build positive military-to-military relations, imbibe each other’s best practices and enhance interoperability.

The joint military exercise will start from tomorrow 28th November and will continue till 11th December. The Ministry of Defense informed that ‘Austra Hind’ is the first such exercise in which participation of all arms and services is involved. The Australian Army contingent consisting of soldiers of the 13th Brigade of the Second Category (Second Category) has reached Rajasthan.

The aim of the exercise is to build positive military-to-military relations, adopt each other’s best practices and enhance capability in the semi-desert region under the UN Peace Enforcement Mandate, the Defense Ministry said. The Indian Army will be represented by soldiers from the Dogra Regiment for the joint exercise with Australia.

According to the Defense Ministry, Austra Hind will be an annual event, which will be held alternately in India and Australia. The joint military exercise, the ministry said, will enable both the armies to share best practices in tactics, techniques and procedures for conducting tactical operations at the company and platoon level to neutralize enemy threats.

India and Australia will undertake joint planning

The armies of India and Australia will undertake joint planning, joint tactical exercises, sharing of fundamentals of special weapons skills and conducting raids on hostile targets. The Ministry of Defense further said, the joint exercise will help in strengthening the ties between India and Australia besides promoting understanding and interoperability between the two armies.
