India has set a target of eradicating tuberculosis by 2025: PM Modi

India has set a target of eliminating tuberculosis (TB) by 2025 and ‘Ni-Kshaya Mitra’ is spearheading this movement against the disease, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday.

Pradhan Mantri TB Free India Campaign (Ni-Kshaya Mitra Initiative) has been implemented by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

“India has set a target of eliminating TB by 2025. Nikshay Mitra has taken charge of this movement against TB. Thousands of people are adopting TB patients in rural areas. This is the true strength of India. Youth are also contributing in achieving the target of TB elimination by 2025,” PM Modi said during the 102nd episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’.

Remembering Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, PM Modi said, ‘Along with the bravery of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, there is a lot to be learned from his governance and his management skills. There is an increase in the work done by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, especially the work done in water management and navy. Even today the pride of Indian history.”

He said, “The forts built by them, even after so many centuries, still stand majestically in the middle of the sea.”

Appreciating the efforts of people to revive a river in UP, PM Modi said, “People in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh have revived an extinct river. The source of the river can also be developed as Amrit Sarovar.”

Elaborating on the theme of this year’s International Day of Yoga, PM Modi said, “The theme of this year’s International Day of Yoga is ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. It expresses the spirit of yoga that unites us. And takes us together.”
