168 Rohingya Muslims have been sent to the holding center in Jammu and Kashmir. Children and women are also included in this. This center has been built in Hiranagar Jail in Kathua. Since Saturday, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has started collecting biometric information and other details of Rohingya Muslims living in Jammu. Rohingya are Bangladeshi minority Muslims of Myanmar.
A large number of Rohingyas, having been harassed by harassment and persecution in their country, have illegally entered India through Bangladesh and settled in different parts of the country including Jammu.
This 'holding center' has been created under Section 3 (2) E of the Foreign Act. A holding center can hold at least 250 people. According to a senior government official, not all of them had the necessary passports as per Section (3) of the Immigrant Passport Act. So the process of identifying such migrants is going on.
Officials said that Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar were verified at the MAM Stadium amid tight security.
According to the administration, other information including biometric information, place of residence, etc. of the people of Rohingya community has been collected under this process. This campaign will continue in the future as well. During this, an in-depth investigation is being done.
'Threat to the country'
Myanmar citizen Abdul Hannan told reporters, "We filled out a form after examining Covid-19. Our fingerprints were taken. ”He told that after the completion of the process, he came out of the stadium. Meanwhile, some political parties and social organizations have appealed to the central government to immediately take steps towards sending Rohingya and Bangladeshis back to their country.
