Jammu and Kashmir: 2 soldiers martyred, three injured in landmine blast near LOC

Two jawans were martyred while three others were injured in a landmine blast near the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nowshera-Sunderbani sector on Saturday. According to official sources, while patrolling a landmine near the LoC, the explosion occurred when army personnel stepped in, in which an officer and a soldier were martyred. As soon as the information was received, other soldiers reached the spot and admitted the injured to the Army Hospital. The condition of two of them is said to be serious. A senior official said that two have died, while three have been injured.

A defense spokesman for the Jammu region said, “A mine blast occurred during patrolling in the area in Nowshera sector, in which two Indian Army personnel were seriously injured and later died. Other soldiers who were injured were taken to hospital. He has been admitted to the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

The spokesperson said that Lt Rishi Kumar and Sepoy Manjit Bahadur were very brave and hardworking, who have made sacrifices for the country. The country and the Indian Army will always be indebted for the supreme sacrifice of both the brave soldiers. Lieutenant Rishi Kumar was a resident of Begusarai in Bihar, while Sepoy Manjit Singh Sirvewala was a resident of Bathinda, Punjab.

A few days ago, nine soldiers, including two officers, were martyred in a terrorist attack. It is believed that the terrorists are hiding in the forests of Poonch. Due to which the army operation is going on in Nowshera sector for the last three weeks. Nowshera sector comes under Rajouri district, which is part of Pir Panjal region in Jammu. This is the longest counter-terrorism operation in the region in the last 18 years.
