J&K News: In a significant development, two high-ranking leaders of ISIS operating in India were apprehended from the Dharmasala area of Dhubri Sector and subsequently brought to the Special Task Force (STF) office in Guwahati. The captured individuals are also wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for their involvement in various terror-related activities.

The accused have been identified as Haris Farooqi, also known as Harish Ajmal Farukhi, hailing from Chakrata, Dehradun, who holds the position of head of ISIS in India. His associate, Anurag Singh, also known as Rehan, originally from Diwana, Panipat, converted to Islam, and his wife is a Bangladeshi national.

Both individuals are described as highly indoctrinated and motivated leaders or members of ISIS in India. They have been actively involved in furthering the agenda of ISIS within the country, orchestrating schemes related to recruitment, terror funding, and planning terror acts involving improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at multiple locations across India. Several cases against them are pending with the NIA, Delhi, as well as the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Lucknow, among others.

The Special Task Force in Assam has taken custody of the accused, and they will be handed over to the NIA for further legal proceedings against these fugitives. This apprehension marks a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and safeguard national security.
