JNU: VC seeks report on anti-Brahmin graffiti on university walls

JNU: Another controversy erupted at Jawaharlal Nehru University, this time over the defacement of walls with anti-Brahmin inscriptions. The walls of the school of language and literature’s second and third floors, as well as the doors of various faculty members, have been defaced with offensive phrases.
The BJP’s students’ organisation, the ABVP, claimed that the vandalism was sponsored by Left-leaning students and urged that the JNU administration take action against those responsible.
Students said that the walls were defaced with anti-Brahmin and anti-Baniya inscriptions, images of which were extensively shared on social media.

The administration of JNU has yet to reply to the incident

The slogans on the walls included “Brahmins Leave The Campus,” “There Will Be Blood,” “Brahmin Bharat Chhodo,” and “Brahmino-Baniyas, we are coming for you!” “We shall avenge,” according to the news agency PTI.
“ABVP condemns the rampant vandalisation of academic spaces by communist goons. The communists have written abuses on the walls of JNU in the School of International Studies- II building. They have defaced chambers of free-thinking professors to intimidate them,” stated ABVP JNU President Rohit Kumar, according to the outlet.

“We believe that academic spaces must be used for debate and discussion and not for poisoning society and students’ community,” he continued.

A JNU teachers’ body also condemned the graffiti, holding the “left-liberal gang” responsible

“While the Left-Liberal gang intimidates every dissident voice, they plead to elect European Commission officials who ‘can assert the values of mutual respect and civility, as well as equal and just treatment of all.” ‘civility’ &’mutual respect.’ “A truly heinous act of vandalism!” commented the JNU Teachers’ Forum on Twitter.
