Kerala: The vice chancellors of nine institutions were ordered by Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan to resign. The ruling LDF administration announced a series of rallies, and the state's minister for higher education, R Bindu, denounced the Governor's action, calling it a "unfortunate circumstance."
"Has any governor in the country adopted similar measures?" the Kerala Minister of Education questioned.

Kerala Minister of Higher Education stated:
"I oppose this action. Has a governor in the nation implemented such a plan? This is a bad circumstance. This could be interpreted as an effort to obstruct government operations. Outstanding accomplishments are being made by our universities, "According to Minister Bindu, as reported by ANI.
What is the issue?
Invoking a recent Supreme Court judgement that disqualified the appointment of the vice chancellors of the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University in this city for breaking UGC norms, the governor requested the resignations of the vice chancellors of nine universities in the state.

"The letters instructing Vice Chancellors of nine Universities of Kerala to present their resignation by 11:30 a.m. on October 24, 2022, have been issued," Raj Bhavan stated in a statement earlier on Sunday.
According to the University Grants Commission, only one name should have been forwarded to the chancellor from the search committee's panel of at least three qualified candidates. As was previously reported, the appointment of Dr. Rajasree MS as vice chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University had been reversed by the top court.
