A few days after the incident of taking down the tricolor at the Indian High Commissioner’s office in the UK, the security of the UK High Commission in Delhi has been somewhat reduced on Wednesday.
According to the information, the barricades installed from outside the house and office of British High Commissioner Alexander Ellis were removed. Apart from this, sand bags, PCR have also been removed. In this case, the spokespersons of the British High Commission said that they do not want to comment on the issue related to security.
There was an attack in London on 19 February
Khalistani supporters attacked the Indian High Commission in London on Sunday night. He had tried to remove the tricolor and replace it with the Khalistani flag. At the same time, India had summoned the British Deputy High Commissioner regarding this incident and sought an explanation on the ‘complete lack of security’ regarding the attack on the High Commission by Khalistani supporters.
At the same time, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a statement saying that India considers the UK government’s apathy towards the security of Indian diplomatic premises and personnel in the UK as ‘unacceptable’. Sources said British Deputy High Commissioner Christina Scott was summoned to the Ministry of External Affairs in view of the incident as High Commissioner Alex Ellis was out of Delhi.
The Ministry of External Affairs had said, “The most senior UK diplomat was summoned to New Delhi to convey India’s strong protest at the action by separatist and extremist elements against the Indian High Commission in London. An explanation was sought for the complete absence of British security allowing these elements to enter the High Commission premises.”
