Lok Sabha Elections 2024: On April 19, when India will vote in 102 constituencies across several states and union territories for the Lok Sabha, banks will be closed. Seven cities will have their banks closed in accordance with the Reserve Bank of India’s vacation schedule.

Bank Holiday in Seven Cities

Chennai, Dehradun, Itanagar, Jaipur, Kohima, Nagpur, Shillong are the places where April 19 would be a bank holiday. To choose the 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha, elections for the Lok Sabha will take place in seven stages. Elections for the Lok Sabha will take place on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. Voting will be held in all seven phases in Bihar, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh. June 4 is when the votes will be tallied.

First Round of General Elections

The first round of general elections is scheduled for April 19 in the following states: Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, and Tripura.

Notably, not all constituencies where the first phase of voting is scheduled have received notice of the bank holiday. Only seven cities are listed on the RBI holiday calendar at this time. Nonetheless, state administrations have set April 19 as a public holiday for the first round of the election.

Tamil Nadu Government Declares Public Holiday

A public holiday was declared by the Tamil Nadu government on April 19, in view of the upcoming general elections for all 39 Lok Sabha seats as well as the Vilavancode Assembly constituency by-election.

Elections for each of Uttarakhand’s five Lok Sabha seats will take place on April 19. April 19 has been designated as a public holiday by the Uttarakhand government.The Uttarakhand government’s General Administration Department issued the directive.

On Friday, April 19, 2024, all personnel working in government, private, and business organizations throughout the state would receive paid leave, according to an official announcement made by the Home Department of Nagaland. The purpose of this decision is to enable them to exercise their democratic right and participate in the voting process.
