Lucknow News: Chandra Prakash Rai, a founder of the Samajwadi Party (SP), and Rakesh Rathore, a former Sitapur MLA for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), both joined the Congress on Thursday. Brijlal Khabri, head of the party’s State unit, and other Congress leaders were in attendance.
Former SP Minister Accuses Party of Abandoning Ideology
Rai, who received ministerial rank in the SP government, claimed the SP had strayed from its socialist course and that socialism was no longer present in the party. ‘Since I can remember, I have been a supporter of socialism, but as of today, neither socialism nor socialist ideology are present in the Samajwadi Party,’ according to Rai. Chandra Prakash Rai, a close ally of SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, adding that only Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress party, was genuinely engaged in the fight against such polarising forces and that the Congress party alone could preserve the nation from authoritarian tendencies.

Prominent Leaders Rally Behind Rahul Gandhi and Congress Party
‘Madhu Limaye, a prominent national figure and the father of socialism, warned the nation in his most recent article that we must support the Congress in order to thwart fascist forces. At the moment, only the Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi are engaged in the fight against fascism. I’m joining the party because of him (Rahul Gandhi), and I’ll keep working to support the Congress so it can win the presidency in 2024,’ Rai continued. Similar comments were expressed by Rakesh Rathore, a former BJP MLA from 2017 to 2022, who described the Uttar Pradesh administration as a failure on all counts. ‘The BJP is no longer the poor people’s party. The average person is opposed to every one of the BJP’s policies. I never stopped speaking up for the average person, even after joining the party. Rahul Gandhi is the only one standing up for India’s citizens in the modern era. We have to give him courage. We will only be saved when the nation and the Constitution are preserved,’ according to Rathore.
